SRC & Summer Camps

SUMMER READING CLUB | JULY 5 to AUG 2

The TD Summer Reading Club is a drop-in programming running every weekday in July until August 2nd! Come and explore the world and have a summer of imagination and fun.

We had a fabulous week of painting plant pots, making slime, and more! But don't worry, SRC is still continuing for the next two weeks! Stop by next week from 2-3 pm to join in on the fun!

July 22nd-26th:

On Monday we will be making some neat bookmarks after reading A Star in the Forest.
Tuesday we will be reading Moon! Earth's best friend followed by making bracelets and necklaces using polymer clay!
Wednesday will be a movie day! We will be watching the animated movie Home. If you have any inquiries about this movie please feel free to contact the library!
On Thursday we will be reading Seeking an Aurora and then painting our very own galaxy pencil holders.
Finally, on Friday we will be continuing to prepare for the Meet Me Outside Parade!Hope to see you there!

READING CHALLENGE:

STEM LEGO | AUGUST 20-23

Join Kyle "Mr.LEGO" Hughes *and maybe special guests* as kids learn about many techniques for building effective robots. Attendee's will tackle principles of building & engineering through LEGO!

ART CAMP | AUGUST 12-15

Barrhead Public Library has been offering this popular summer program since 2010! It is a unique fine arts-focused day camp for tweens and teens with a passion for art. Creative exercises and messy, hands-on experience help inspire and encourage young artists and teach them a love of art that can last a lifetime!

READING BUDDIES

Reading buddies is a free reading mentorship program run by the library. It is designed to provide literary support for elementary students during the summer months when their reading skills tend to slip.

Sessions are scheduled weekday mornings (10 – noon) throughout July. We encourage one session a week but will gladly accept booking any number of sessions. Sessions are 45 minutes of one-on-one reading practice with one of two summer staff members. As it is all one-on-one practice the needs of each student can be met specifically. We incorporate library books they are interested in as well as vocabulary games to keep them engaged.

Registering your child for sessions can be arranged through the library and we encourage you to sign up as quickly as possible because times and space are limited! Come into the Barrhead Public Library or email Karla and register today!
