Donations
The Barrhead Public Library accepts donations of money or library materials.
Monetary Donations
Donations can be made to the library in the form of cash, cheque, or money order, made out to the Barrhead Public Library. Donors may specify if the monies should be dedicated "In Memory Of" or "In Honour Of" a loved one, or earmarked for a specific purchase such as a magazine subscripton or other library materials. Income tax receipts will be issued for donations of twenty dollars or more.

Operational donations will be used where most needed.
Library Material Donations
Print and audio/visual material must be clean and undamaged. Items are added to the collection based on age, condition, and material relevance. We cannot accept items that are musty or moldy. Duplicate or outdated items will be put in out semi-annual used book sale which is held in the Spring and the Fall.
Due to our lack of storage, we ask that donations of a large amount of books be made closer to our Used Book Sale dates. Watch for details in our newsletter or contact the library at 780-674-8519 for upcoming sale dates and drop-off times.
The library accepts donations of:
- Hard-cover books
- Paperback books
- DVDs
- CDs & audiobooks
The library does not accept donations of:
- Textbooks & encyclopedias
- Old magazines & periodicals
- Reader's Digest condensed books
- Vinyl records & tapes, including VHS
- Copyright violation items
- Items with highlights or handwriting on pages
Donated items must be in good to excellent condition. The Librarian reserves the right to accept or discard donated items, or place them in the Used Book Sale to raise money for new materials.
